Once in SourceDrive, documents can be edited with audited additions, such as:
These things can also be corrected using the "strike" tool.
To access the document editor:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document version you'd like to edit.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor:
- Select a tool you'd like to use (more on this below) and add items:
- When finished editing, be sure to click "DONE" and "SAVE" your changes.
Adding Annotation
To add annotations to a document version in SourceDrive, use the document editor:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to certify.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor. The "Annotate" tool will already be selected in the document editor menu.
- To add annotations, click and drag to create a text box and begin typing. To resize, drag the control points at the sides. To delete, click a box and then the trash icon.
- You may switch to other document editing tools and add other edits if desired. When finished, click "DONE" and then "SAVE" to confirm changes.
- You will see your annotation listed in the audit trail:
Note: In the above example, my annotations were red, but this is customizable. Your color preferences for your annotations may be updated under your profile:
- Log into SourceDrive and click on your name in the top right corner.
- Click "Profile".
- Pick a color from the dropdown under "My Annotation Display".
- Be sure to click "SAVE CHANGES".
- New annotations will have this new color. Old annotations will still remain in whatever color your annotation was when it was created.
Adding Highlighting
To add highlighting to a document version in SourceDrive, use the document editor:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to certify.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor.
- Click the "Highlight" tool in the document editor menu.
- To add highlights, click and drag to create a box. Boxed areas will be remain covered in a transparent yellow once saved. To resize the box, drag the control points at the corners or sides. To delete, click a box and then the trash icon.
- You may switch to other document editing tools and add other edits if desired. When finished, click "DONE" and then "SAVE" to confirm changes.
- You will see your highlighting listed in the audit trail:
Adding Signatures
To add signatures to a document version in SourceDrive, use the document editor:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to certify.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor.
- Click the "Sign" tool in the document editor menu.
- To add your signature, click where you would like to sign. A signature box will appear with a dropdown for reason. Use the dropdown to specify your signing reason. To move or resize the signature box, click and drag it. To delete, click a signature and then the trash icon.
- You may switch to other document editing tools and add other edits if desired. When finished, click "DONE" and then "SAVE" to confirm changes.
- Enter your signing PIN and click "SIGN". If you do not have a PIN, see "Requesting a Signing PIN".
- You will see your signature(s) listed in the audit trail:
Note: In the above example, my signature said "C. Wallender", but this is customizable. Your name preferences for your signature may be updated under your profile:
- Log into SourceDrive and click on your name in the top right corner.
- Click "Profile".
- Update your signature display name under "Full Name (preference for displays such as signatures)".
- Be sure to click "SAVE CHANGES".
- New signatures will have this new name. Old signatures will still remain in whatever color your signature was when it was created. The audit trail will always reflect your current name.
Making Corrections and Using the Strike Tool
Highlighting and redaction can be corrected easily:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to correct.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor.
- Click the "Highlight" or "Redaction" tool in the document editor menu.
- To resize a highlight or redaction box, drag the control points at the corners or sides. To delete, click a box and then the trash icon. You can also add new highlights or redaction if you'd like.
- When finished, click "DONE" and then "SAVE" to confirm changes. For redaction, you'll want to use "SAVE & SHARE" if all redaction is complete.
You may strike annotations, signatures, or areas of a document version using the document editor:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to correct.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor.
- Click the "Strike" tool in the document editor menu.
- To strike an annotation or signature, click it. To add a strikeout a region of the document, click and drag to create a line. You can drag the middle of the line up or down to strike a larger area. To delete, click a strike and then the trash icon.
- After any strike, SourceDrive will ask you to provide a reason for the correction.
- You may switch to other document editing tools and add other edits if desired. When finished, click "DONE" and then "SAVE" to confirm changes.
- You will see your corrections listed in the audit trail.
Note: elements that were added via SourceDrive and were later struck are hidden by default, to keep things tidy looking, but struck items can be viewed in the document editor by toggling on the "Show Struck" toggle at the top of the page, or in the document viewer by clicking their entry in the audit trail:
Adding Redaction
To add redaction to a document version in SourceDrive, use the document editor:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to certify.
- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor.
- Click the "Redact" tool in the document editor menu. You will be asked to confirm that the document will be put in "Needs Redaction" mode until the redaction is completed. This means the original document will be hidden from those without redaction permissions, and once you save and share redaction, they will only see the redacted version of the document. Click "CONTINUE & HIDE."
- To add redaction, click and drag to create a box. Boxed areas will be completely redacted once saved. To resize the box, drag the control points at the corners or sides. To delete, click a box and then the trash icon.
- You may switch to other document editing tools and add other edits if desired. When finished, click "DONE" and then "SAVE" to save your work on redaction, or click "SAVE & SHARE" to finish redaction and share this redacted version.
- You will see your redaction listed in the audit trail:
Certify a Document Version
To certify a document that's already been uploaded, you have two options:
- Log into SourceDrive and navigate to and open the document you'd like to certify.
- Click the "Certify this Version" link in the left-hand panel, beneath "Version Information."
- Add your PIN and click the "CERTIFY" button.
- You will see your certification in the audit trail.
OR, you can also certify from the document editor:

- Click the "EDIT" button in the top right-hand corner to open the document editor.
- Select the "Certify" tool from the document editor menu.
- Add your PIN and click the "CERTIFY" button:
